The Forefront of HVAC: The Ductless Air Conditioner

The HVAC industry is always silently evolving. Consumers aren’t as acutely aware of the technological advances taking place in products like the ductless air conditioner, the furnace, the boiler and the heat pump, but they’re fast and impressive. Initially a ductless air conditioner would be very unique to the region it was purchased in as manufacturers didn’t distribute globally and technology wasn’t as widely shared or available. Today the ductless air conditioner market is extremely competitive with companies worldwide constantly innovating and creating new technologies. The race to make their ductless air conditioners more attractive to consumers has never been more competitive.

Ductless air conditioner systems are equipped with intricate but easy to use controls, which allow consumers to switch between cooling, heating, ventilation and in some cases dry mode operation. Dry mode is a technology that removes moisture from the air via the inverter technology in the unit. Removing moisture in a similar way to a de-humidifier also results in a small reduction in temperature in the space surrounding the unit.

Other technologies like occupancy sensors that tell units to turn on when people are around allow consumers to customize their comfort levels. Units now feature rapid cooling and heating features as well that provide bursts of cooling and heating when quick temperature changes are needed. Some units can also be controlled via smart phone or the internet, allowing users to make changes while they’re not present. The volume control of units is constantly being amended. Quieter units are very popular and technology has definitely kept up with demand in this respect. Overall efficiency is always going to be a game-changing technology as consumers are constantly looking for the most efficient units that also provide a plethora of other features.

The Key to Ductless Air Conditioner Technology

One key thing that ductless air conditioner manufacturers do well is listen to their consumers. The continuous innovation is meeting the demand for higher efficiency and cool features, which makes the lives of front line HVAC suppliers much easier.

3 Reasons Ductless Air Conditioning Is Right For You

In case you haven’t noticed summer is here, and it came in with a blast of heat that we haven’t seen for years. With no rain in the forecast to cool things down residents in Toronto, York Region and the rest of the GTA rely on air conditioning. Ductless air conditioning is an excellent option to cool any home, office, or other space. Many people are too familiar with ductless air conditioning because they live in homes with large systems of ductwork. These homes don’t always need ductless air conditioning because the central air conditioner pushes cool air through the duct system. Ductless air conditioners have the ability to cool entire houses or just small spaces.

3 Things To Know About Ductless Air Conditioning

In case you haven’t realized it yet we think ductless air conditioners are great options for any area of the home or office. Here’s why:

  1. Ductless Is Easy To Install: That’s right! Ductless air conditioners are incredibly easy to install. They only have 3 main components. The indoor piece called the air handler. It either hangs on the wall, the ceiling or can sit on the floor as desired. The outdoor condenser unit can also either be hung up or placed on the ground. The final piece to the puzzle are the pieces connecting the 2 components. All these wires and cables and pipes need to fed through a hole in the exterior wall in order to allow the two components to function properly. Which brings up the next point…
  2. No Construction: It’s extremely typical to avoid any sort of construction while installing ductless air conditioning. Generally, all that needs to be done is for a hole to be drilled through an exterior wall in order to connect the two units. Aside from that they just need to be mounted and you’ll be cooling your home in no time.
  3. Affordable: Not only are these units cheaper than central air conditioners, their installation is cheaper and they don’t require the expensive installation or modification of ductwork. Once you have a unit installed, depending on use, you’ll notice a much smaller impact on your energy bills than you would if you installed a central air conditioning unit.

Overall, there are a multitude of reasons to install ductless air conditioning. For more information contact Novel Care Toronto today: 905-737-5016.

Ductless Mini Split Installation Is Easy!

If you’re thinking about ductless mini split installation for your home then you probably already know about the many benefits of this type of air conditioner. Ductless mini split installation will result in an energy-efficient and very controllable unit that creates excellent circulation and indoor air quality. On top of that you won’t have to worry about all the expensive issues that come with owning a central air conditioning system and installing ductwork. The one thing that stops most people from moving forward with ductless mini split installation is understanding how much work is involved.

Ductless Mini Split Installation

One important thing to understand about ductless mini split installation is that you can leave all the work to the Professionals at Novel Care. While installation is easy for a professional HVAC technician, it’s important its performed by one to ensure its done properly. Professional installation ensures that your unit is installed correctly, that it’s optimized and efficient, and that you don’t have any repair issues in the near future.

Overall, these units are some of the easiest air conditioning units to install.

Ductless mini split installation happens in two stages: installing and configuring the outdoor condenser unit, and mounting, configuring and connecting the indoor air handling unit. The air handling units are the ones you’ll see inside your home. Typically, they’re mounted on the wall, but there are also units that can be mounted on the ceiling and rest on the floor.

Connecting the two components merely consists of drilling a whole through an exterior wall in order to run the power, refrigerant, and condensate lines through the wall. Following the connection of the two units, all that’s required is understanding how to properly set the temperature and taking care of a few small bits of maintenance.

What is a Heat Pump?

If you have a general understanding about how air conditioners work then you probably already know a lot more about how a heat pump works than you realize. Heat pumps function in a very similar way, but instead of burning fuel they transfer heat from the air or ground which makes them a much greener heating solution.

It’s not typical to have a heat pump as a the sole source of heat for a home or office as they are usually used for cooling during warmer months as well. Heat pumps are also used for purposes other than warms specific areas of your home or office. Heat pumps can be used to heat swimming pools and hot tubs in a similar way.

Heat Pump Types

There are many different types of heat pumps with each heat pump serving a different purpose:

  • An air heat pump transfers heat energy from the air around it.
  • A ground heat pump transfers heat energy from the ground.
  • An exhaust air heat pump takes heat from building exhaust.
  • A water source heat pump uses moving water as a heat source, also called a heat sink.

There are also many other heat pump models to serve various other purposes. There are also models that extract heat from the air outside when it’s warm and once the temperature drops it then uses the ground to obtain heat. This type of operation is more efficient than using cold air.

What Do Heat Pumps Do?

Heat pumps have the ability to help homeowners and building owners save money on their energy bills as they’re very efficient at certain temperatures. One of the main problems is they tend to underperform when temperatures drop drastically. In scenarios where extremely cold temperatures are common it’s best to use a heat pump in combination with another type of heating. This will allow you to take advantage of their efficiency, while still staying warm when Jack Frost takes over.

Overall heat pumps are a good solution as supplementary heat sources and provide great spot heating in homes and offices. They’re best when used in combination with other heating sources in the fall and winter, especially when it’s very cold out. The main benefit of heat pumps is that they often come as part of ductless air units or mini-split systems so the equipment is useful year round.
